California Privacy Rights
Last Updated on January 5, 2026
At Insurance Panda, we respect and protect your privacy. This California Privacy Rights page explains (1) your rights under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (the “Shine the Light” law) and (2) the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”).
California Privacy Rights Under the CCPA (As Amended by the CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share.
- Delete certain personal information we collected from you (subject to legal exceptions).
- Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (as those terms are defined by California law), including through certain browser-based signals such as Global Privacy Control, where applicable.
- Limit the use and disclosure of certain sensitive personal information, where the law applies.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your California privacy rights.
When the CCPA/CPRA Applies
The CCPA/CPRA generally applies to certain for-profit businesses doing business in California that meet specific legal thresholds (such as annual revenue or the volume of personal information processed). If a particular right does not apply to Insurance Panda, we will explain why when responding to your request.
How to Submit a California Privacy Request
To submit a request to know, delete, correct, or to exercise other California privacy rights, please contact us using our designated method here: Contact Insurance Panda. In your message, please specify the type of request you are making (for example: “Request to Know” or “Request to Delete”).
To help us process your request efficiently, include the email address (and any other identifying details) you have previously used with us. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
You may also use an authorized agent to submit certain requests on your behalf. If an authorized agent submits a request, we may ask for documentation showing the agent’s authority and may still need to verify your identity.
How Long We Take to Respond
For CCPA/CPRA requests (such as requests to know, delete, or correct), we generally respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request. If we need more time, we may extend the response period by an additional 45 days (90 days total) and will notify you if an extension applies.
If you submit a Shine the Light request (described below) to a designated contact method, we respond within 30 days. Requests sent to a non-designated method may take longer, but no more than 150 days from receipt.
About the “Shine the Light” Law (California Civil Code § 1798.83)
California’s “Shine the Light” law allows California residents who have an established business relationship with a company to request certain information about the company’s disclosure of personal information to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes.
Subject to the law’s requirements and exceptions, you may request (no more than once per calendar year):
- The categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes during the prior calendar year; and
- The names and addresses of those third parties.
If you would like to make a Shine the Light request, please use our designated method and include “Your California Privacy Rights” in your message so we can route it correctly.
